National HR Operation Manager

Job Description:

Reporting to the National HR Director, the National HR Operation Manager is responsible for leading nationally standardized HR administration and specialist services in support of regional HR business partner teams.  This role is responsible for leadership of national HR Shared Service, HR Technology, Compensation & Benefits, Payroll, Talent Attraction, and Learning & Development functions, as well as project and program development leadership.  It will have a key role to play in developing the way we operate as a national HR department going forward and leading the team through transition and application of a future way of working. The HR Operation Manager is expected to conduct all matters in a manner consistent with the company’s Corporate Values of Innovation, Caring, Capable, and Collaboration.  


Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

HR Operations Lead

  • Leading senior professionals in the development and execution of national HR programming and process development, including HR Shared Service, HR Technology, Compensation & Benefits/Wellness, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, and Learning & Development.  Collaborating with international and global HR colleagues on alignment of HR operations strategy and program execution
  • Represent Trouw Nutrition Canada HR in vendor procurement, relationship management, and negotiations
  • Build relationships between senior business leaders, HR Management team members, and HR Operations department leaders, driving collaboration and business process improvement
  • Lead the adoption and use of HR technology and Payroll technology, including development and execution of KPIs and SLAs
  • Understand and be part of HR technology change management program, evaluating change proposals and making priority recommendations
  • Ability to translate business requirements into system and process opportunities, and recommend solutions
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital
  • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization
  • Building on / further developing the HR Operating model. Implement a National SSC, with future scalability – ticketing, KPIs, SLAs, process mapping/development, data oriented, customer service oriented

Project Management

  • Ability to lead large projects – direct resources, manage budget, report on progress to senior business leaders
  • Ability to defend projects and make business cases at National Management team, Business Leadership Council, HR Leadership Team, and Global HR levels
  • Ability to manage capex costs, write Capex Expenditure Requests, Request For Proposals
  • Ability to mentor and teach project management within the HR department
  • Ability to be a business analyst, project resource, and local advocate on global HR projects and national local business projects representing HR


  • Degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology or relevant field
  • Experience leading HR Operations and senior HR professionals
  • Deep understanding of and experience working with Workday, including security principles and system testing (HCM, Basic and Advanced Compensation, Absence, Talent, Recruiting, Learning)
  • Demonstrate project/program management skills with the ability to focus on details
  • Experience with Human Resources Information Systems including payroll tools
  • Experience in strategic planning & knowledge of multiple HR functions, in particular: Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Compensation and Benefits governance, HR Shared Services, and Payroll
  • A business acumen partnered with attention to the human element
  • Experience building vendor relationships
  • Bilingual would be an asset
