A History of Growth

From humble beginnings to a milestone year, Wendon Holsteins was established in 1976 by Don and Wendy Chalack with 25 head. Today, it is a family run operation with a total of 265 head operated by Don and Wendy, their daughter and son-in-law.

The Wendon name is well recognized, earning highest honors across Canada for its pedigreed cows. This past year, specifically has been highly notable, winning not one, but five top Canadian Holstein awards; three Breeder’s Herd and two Grand Champion, as well as the TD Classic Breeder of Distinction awarded at the Royal Winter Fair. Their success didn’t stop there. They were awarded Alberta Holstein Breeder of the year, recognized for breeding two 95 point cows; Wendon Dempsey Divida and Wendon Destry Rainy. They have also won 36 Holstein Canada Awards, eight All Western Awards, and two All Canadian honorable mentions.

Don was also named the Curtis Clark Award recipient, for which The Bullvine is quoted saying, “A breeder, showman, marketer, judge, volunteer and industry leader, Don Chalack checks all the boxes when it comes to what the Curtis Clark Award stands for”.
